Applications are now open for the Rotary Scholarships for Water and Sanitation Professionals 2024. The scholarship program application deadline is scheduled for April 15, 2024.
The strategic partnership between The Rotary Foundation (TRF) and IHE Delft Institute for Water Education aims to tackle the world’s water and sanitation crisis by increasing the number of trained professionals to devise, plan, and implement solutions in developing and emerging countries. Through this partnership, scholarships are awarded annually to graduate students at IHE Delft’s campus in the Netherlands.

Introduction: Rotary Scholarships for Water and Sanitation Professionals.
These scholarships are designed to promote long-term productive relationships between Rotarians and highly skilled water and sanitation professionals in their communities. Since the inception of the partnership in 2012, over 165 scholarships have been awarded.
The application process is as follows: Rotarians interview and select from local candidates who have already been academically admitted at the IHE Delft Institute for Water Education’s MSc Programme in Water and Sustainable Development, to one of the following thematic tracks:
- Water and Health
- Water, Food and Energy
- Water Resources and Ecosystems Health
- Water Hazards, Risks and Climate
When the candidate is deemed suitable, the sponsoring Rotary Club submits (together with the candidate) a fully completed application form to the joint Rotary/IHE Delft selection committee (details can be found below), copied to the District Governor and District Rotary Foundation Chair of their district.
When a Rotary scholarship has been awarded, the sponsoring Rotary Club maintains contact with the scholar throughout his or her studies. The financing of the successful candidates will be managed through Rotary’s Global Grant process.
About Rotary Scholars
Recipients of this Rotary scholarship will benefit from the support they receive through regular contact with sponsor Rotarians from their home country and the opportunity to interact with Rotarians in the Netherlands.
Rotary alumni constitute an extensive network of Rotary scholarship recipients and Rotarians worldwide. Becoming involved with a local Rotary Club and the alumni association allows scholars to stay connected to Rotary’s global community and resources.
How to Apply for Rotary Scholarships for Water and Sanitation Professionals 2024
Students admitted to IHE Delft Institute for Water Education’s Master of Science program in Water and Sustainable Development (68EC) can be nominated by a local Rotary Club in their home community by submitting the application form for a scholarship to the Rotary/IHE Delft committee in the Netherlands, together with the student’s resume and the IHE Delft admission letter.
Only completed application forms fully supported and submitted by the sponsoring Rotary Club will be considered.

The Rotary Scholarships for Water and Sanitation Professionals application form has to be submitted by email to the Rotary/IHE Delft committee in the Netherlands: rotary.ihescholarship@gmail.com and copied to their District Governor and District Rotary Foundation Chair.
The deadline for submitting Rotary scholarship applications is 15 April 2024. Any application forms submitted after this date will not be considered.

Application procedure
To apply for Rotary Scholarships for Water and Sanitation Professionals, follow the guidelines below;
- Apply for admission to the IHE Delft Master program in Water and Sustainable Development by 1 April 2024 at the latest
- Early on in the application process, search for your nearest Rotary club
- Approach the club and request to nominate you for a Rotary scholarship
- The application form needs to be completed by you and by the Rotary Club
- After full completion of the form, the sponsoring Rotary Club will submit your application to the Rotary/IHE Delft selection committee in The Netherlands by 15 April 2024 at the latest
- After the selection, all candidates will be informed about the outcome before 15 May 2024
- Final approval is pending formal endorsement by The Rotary Foundation on 1 July 2024
